I’m not going to lie, over the last few months I have secretly been making a list of all the things I wanted to do once our weekend schedule wasn’t dictated by football games. This list imagined us to be the kind of people who eat at all the trendiest restaurants and bars and visit museums regularly. With this weekend being our first official weekend of freedom, I had all of our activities planned out. It was going to be an awesome weekend of football-free fun, finally. Hooray!
The problem? We simply didn’t do any of it. The only thing we did on my list was give Barley a much needed bath.
She looks super cute soaking wet and we really revel in how adorable and miserable her face looks, but it doesn’t necessarily scream “This is the best weekend ever!”
Why didn’t we do anything on my list? Well, I had a really hard time at work this week and was feeling a bit exhausted and out of sorts. On Friday when I was walking home the last thing I wanted to do was go back out again to do something new and exciting. I wanted to go home and be predictable and boring. So I picked up loads of candy and popcorn instead. As soon as I walked through the door of our apartment I hopped straight into my pjs, told Chris that we were ordering pizza because I definitely wasn’t cooking, and then we proceeded to binge watch (and eat) Netflix into the wee hours. It was perfect.
The rest of the weekend proceeded in a similar fashion. We did nothing new and exciting. I read a whole book on Saturday, Big Little Lies by Liane Moriarty and finished another book on Sunday, The One by Kierra Cass. Barley played in the snow that much to her delight seems to never stop falling. Chris played video games with his friends.
There was too much time in pajamas, too much junk food, lots of cuddles. What more could a girl ask for?
Did anyone else spend their weekend being lazy or was it just us?
